It was in one of the summer vacation that we decided to explore the southern most tip of India – Kanyakumari.
It has always been a pleasure to squander my time being close to nature. This was once such experience and was definitely a liberating one.
On my way to the destination, I was welcomed by countless awe-inspiring views carved by the nature. Some of them were breathtaking and some made me wonder what it takes to craft such a sight. The images were picture perfect which gave it an illusionary effect.
I was transported to some exotic land that made me ponder. As the saying goes, “The Journey is more important than the destination”, I discovered the reason why. It’s not always the bliss of reaching the destination, but the experience that the journey grants you which is more pleasurable.
We were scheduled to reach Kanyakumari at hours of darkness, so that our expedition was accompanied by a pleasant summer evening.
The sun was downing creating an enigmatic landscape. The entire planet appeared to be bathed in gold. The setting sun had a Midas-Touch-Effect on each and everything beneath it. Nobody was spared by the brilliance of its effect. The chirping bird, the soft evening breeze blowing, the extravagant artwork of diverse hues seen at the sundown sky and the horizon was mesmerizing. That made be think why I am so innocently awestruck. This is not a once-in-a-life-time phenomenon!! It has been occurring every day, months after months, years after years, decades after decades, and centuries after centuries without fail. It then dawned on me that the new age sophisticated bunch of living being are so poorly tangled in our web of concrete jungle that we have distanced ourselves from Mother Nature. We have reduced ourselves to robots or may be string-puppets ruled by the hi-tech world. But as every coin has two sides, the only beneficiary to this entire mess is the tourism industry where the major tourist attraction is the sunrise and sunset points. This is when the concrete jungle inhabitants flock in masses to experience the beauty of the every day unusual phenomenon!!
I was then greeted by large barren stretch of land on either side of the boulevard with pristine white wind mills erected on it. The sight was inexpressible. The Wind mill standing long and tall was not ashamed to be led by the wind. It’s this humility that brings out the essence of life. This doesn’t connote you stoop low or let go of your self respect but be humble enough to respect others for what they are and not to build stereotypic yardstick for judging people.
After this insightful evening, I finally reached my destination. Since it was too late to head for the sunset view point and too early to call it a day, I decided to spend the rest of the day by the beach. The beach offered me an exclusive view. I was welcome by the fresh sea breeze. The sun was long gone, leaving a trail behind. The sky was painted in light shades of purple, orange and tinge of blue and white. The entire universe was preparing to be embraced by the darkness. The beach side was filled with people of different size and shape devouring the beauty of the nature, unaware of the beautiful scenic beauty they were creating. And I decided to be one among them.
I settled to walk the length of the beach till my limbs could take it no more. I allowed the cold water to splash against my feet and the wind to get lost in my hair. And no sooner the entire world fell in to darkness as if somebody has blow the candled off...The only source of light was the starry sky, a ill lit lamppost and the light house flooding a beam of light across the beach. Thus I resolved to stay there soaked in the beauty of nature for a while. It was a momentary pleasure to witness the shoreline drenched in blackness, gushing white waves and syrupy breeze conveying me to a different world.
I sat there saturated with the exquisiteness of nature till the mosquitoes decided to drive me back to my room!!!
